In fact, this is similar to our first ever article at eCommerceMILO, but here we update the important milestones of e-commerce developments especially from the year of 2013 to 2016.

Milestones from 1998 to 2009
There weren't many important milestones in the years before 2011, the notable ones are the launch of Lelong (rebranded from Buypc.com.my), AirAsia (with the turnaround by Tony Fernandes) and the start of online payment gateway companies.

Milestones from 2011 to 2016
There is such a big contrast on this diagram compared to the first one, which shows that e-commerce has only started taking off in Malaysia since 2011, which coincides with the group buying era.
We can safely summarize that 2011-2012 were the years of group buying, and e-marketplaces battle started to warm up from 2013. It is also notable that there are so many online shopping platforms launched in 2015 whereas 2016 was relatively quiet by comparison.
